Project Description

This tool will scan .CHK file headers, from CHKDSK /F chain recovery and rename the file based on the header content as defined in a signature lookup list.

It is a 32 bit Windows command line utility to rename recovered lost file chains.

The header that defines rename rules (default):
########################################################
# Header definition file
# Each line contains a mapping, in the format <ext>=<sig>
# <ext> = file extension to map
# <sig> = header signature to look for in the first 100 bytes
#
########################################################
# Buffersize determines how many bytes of the file header to scan for signatures
buffersize=100
#
########################################################
# Note: I will only process files with the .CHK extension, the recovered file extension.
